Jiang Shan, who had rushed over after receiving the call, stood outside the door like a fool.
When did his mother speak like this? Her remarks earlier were clearly organised and the matters had been outlined clearly.
Could he have done it as well as she did?

No, if it had been him, he might not have been able to parry the reporters.
If it had gone differently, the situation would have been worse, with the reporters digging into any small inconsistencies or omissions.

Jiang Shan was still thinking about this when Li Su came out.
She saw him and snorted coldly.
“Look at what you have caused.
Why are you still here? Are you afraid that the reporters won’t see you?”

When she finished speaking, she strode out.
Jiang Shan quickly followed her.

After they returned home, Wei Yue Er greeted them in a panic.
“Mum, are you okay?”

Li Su was angry, but when she saw Wei Yue Er’s worried expression, she quickly comforted her daughter-in-law.
“It’s okay.
I’m fine.
I’ve sent away that group of reporters.
They won’t write anything we don’t want.
Don’t worry! By the way, where is Little Moon? Is she scared?” Li Su stared at Jiang Shan again.

Wei Yue Er shook her head.
“It’s fine.
She fell asleep after drinking some milk.
Husband, how did the reporters know about these things? Will it affect you and dad?”

Jiang Shan hurriedly stepped forward and said, “Don’t worry.
The company has already made some preparations and contacted several familiar media outlets.
It’s fine.”

Wei Yue Er was relieved now.
“Husband, what is going on with the reporters?”

Jiang Shan looked annoyed.
“I was going to talk to you that day, but I was distracted by Little Moon and I forgot.
I allowed you to be frightened by them.
I’m sorry, Yue Er.”

“So you do know it’s your fault! You messed up!” Li Su angrily hit Jiang Shan several times.
“Are you blind? How did you like someone like Mei Li in the first place?”

Wei Yue Er, who was originally worried, ended up laughing at this.

Jiang Shan glanced at Li Su, then at Wei Yue Er.
“Mum, I feel like I am not your kid, but Yue Er is.
How can you ask if I am blind? If I am blind, then how could I have given you a good daughter-in-law like Yue Er?”

Wei Yue Er was happily coaxed.
“Mum, Jiang Shan didn’t do it on purpose.
You can know a person from what they show you; you can’t know their heart! Don’t be angry with him.”

Li Su glanced at Jiang Shan.
“If I didn’t give birth to you, I would have smashed your head a long time ago with your playboy tendencies! You can’t do anything like this!” She then looked at Wei Yue Er.
“You are too easy to coax.
Just a few words are enough to make you smile.
If I wasn’t here, then you would be cheated to death by him.
Let me tell you, you have to be a bit more eye-catching to make your man keep his eyes on you! You need to strictly discipline him.
In the future, you can confiscate his salary card, or get the finance department to put his salary on your card.
If he doesn’t have money, then how is he supposed to provoke those rotten women?”

Wei Yue Er smiled.
“Mum, I believe Jiang Shan.
He isn’t that kind of person.” She gave Jiang Shan a sweet look, then hugged Li Su’s arm.
“He is a big man, so it is inevitable that he ends up going out to socialise.
How could he have no money? Besides, he wouldn’t dare to try anything with you here.”

“What if I die?!” Li Su said.

“Hey, hey, don’t say such a thing! How could you die! Mum, you need to live to be a hundred years old,” Wei Yue Er laughed.

Li Su looked at her and smiled helplessly.
“Fortune favours the fools.
It seems like I worried about you for nothing.”

Li Su looked at Jiang Shan.
He was looking at Wei Yue Er with a smile.
The tenderness and love in his eyes was obvious to everyone.
Wei Yue Er was finally able to see her efforts pay off.

Li Su looked away and felt a little relieved.
Her cheap son had these kinds of shortcomings, like being unfaithful, chauvinistic, having both an inferiority and a superiority complex, and a little careless.
Such people were easily led astray.
However, as long as someone watched from the sidelines and guided them in time, they may not get led astray.

“Okay, I know that you two are a family.
As long as you are both good, then it’s fine.” Li Su smiled and put Wei Yue Er’s hand over Jiang Shan’s.

Jiang Shan looked at Wei Yue Er gently, then said to Li Su, “Mum, I know what you are worried about, but you can rest assured that those things won’t happen.
I am very happy now and I won’t let anyone or anything ruin my happiness.”

“Yeah, if you move back in with us, we will be happier together as a family,” Wei Yue Er said suddenly.

“What?” Li Su looked at Wei Yue Er.

Wei Yue Er smiled and sat Li Su down on the sofa.
“Mum, it’s like this.
I am idle at home every day and it’s a bit boring.
I also thought about it.
If I stay at home and don’t work, I’ll be out of touch with society.
So, I thought that when Little Moon gets older, I’ll go back and work at the company.
But, I wouldn’t worry about leaving Little Moon at home with auntie.
So, mum, you should come back and live with us.
We will live upstairs and you can live downstairs, then we won’t bother each other too much.
“Mum, come back.
Wouldn’t it be good to have a harmonious family?”

Jiang Shan also looked at Li Su expectantly.
“Yes, mum, look.
Now that your son has a daughter, there are more things I will need to spend money on.
I will also have to save for Little Moon’s dowry.
So the matter of buying you a house… You can come back and live with us!” Jiang Shan deliberately pretended to be pitiful.

In fact, since Little Moon was born, Li Su had gone out early and returned late for the sake of her granddaughter.
She didn’t watch TV dramas and she stopped dancing, and she didn’t have barbeque or beer.
After the old ladies learned that she had a granddaughter, they were considerate enough to not disturb her.
Li Su’s current life would not be affected if she moved back.

Li Su pondered over the matter for a minute, but ended up agreeing.
“Okay! Then I will move back in with you.”

Wei Yue Er cheered.
“Great! Husband, you can help mum move!”

“Okay, I’ll go ask someone.” Jiang Shan smiled and stood up.

“What’s the hurry? I still have rent for two months!” Li Su smiled.

“Oh, leave it be.
Isn’t it just two month’s rent? That’s nothing.” Wei Yue Er pushed Jiang Shan to make him move faster.

Seeing this, Li Su smiled helplessly, but she was satisfied.
It was a good thing for her son and daughter-in-law to be filial, but she lost a bit of freedom.
Alas, there was no other way.
In order to complete the task, she had to sacrifice some of her freedom to keep the family happy.

The turmoil caused by Mei Li was quickly replaced by other news, which did not impact Li Su’s life.
Jiang Shan and Wei Yue Er also had a frank conversation.
Jiang Shan told Wei Yue Er about Mei Li in detail, from beginning to end.
Only then did Wei Yue Er know how much her mother-in-law had protected her.
Wei Yue Er was very moved and became more filial.

“Mum, do you think this dress looks good? Come and try it!”

Li Su walked over with Little Moon in her arms and saw a pile of shopping bags on the sofa.
Wei Yue Er was excitedly holding a coat as she smiled sweetly at her.

“Why did you buy me more clothes? I have enough to wear.
Just buy them for yourself and Little Moon.” Li Su smiled.

After Little Moon turned 5 months old, Wei Yue Er went back to work.
Li Su and the auntie looked after Little Moon at home.
Little Moon was an adorable child.
It was easy to smile every day.
Only, she liked to go outside rather than stay at home.
They took her to the garden downstairs so she could enjoy the flowers and plants for a while.
So, Li Su now often goes out with Little Moon.
She guessed when Jiang Shan and Wei Yue Er returned from work and made sure she was back in time.

Jiang Shan changed his clothes and washed his hands.
He then took Little Moon.
The father and daughter played for a bit, with Little Moon giggling.

“I already bought it all.
Mum, come and take a look and try it, okay?” Wei Yue Er said as she pulled Li Su.
Wei Yue Er helped Li Su take off her coat so Li Su could try out the new clothes.

“The size is right.
Mum, you look really good.
You can also try these shoes out.
Mum, I bought you two bracelets.
One is gold and the other one is jade.
Do you like them?” Wei Yue Er held two jewellery boxes and blinked at Li Su with big eyes.

“Why did you buy that stuff? What a waste!” Li Su groaned as she picked up the two bracelets to look at them.
“This gold bracelet is too heavy! It will fall off easily.
And this jade bracelet is so expensive! I don’t want it.
Can I return it?” Li Su looked at the label and immediately put it back.

Jiang Shan hugged Little Moon and sat on the sofa.
“Mum, this is Yue Er’s sincerity.
You should accept it! Isn’t your birthday coming up? This is a birthday gift that Yue Er and I bought for you.
I don’t know what you like, so we bought these bracelets.
I bought the gold one and Yue Er bought the jade one.”

“Aiyah, I am very old.
Who cares about a birthday now? I understand your sincerity, so I will accept the clothes and shoes.
You can take back the rest,” said Li Su.
She was already past the age of being beautiful.
If she wore such a thick gold bracelet when she went out, she would be afraid of getting robbed.

“You can’t give it back.
Mum, just accept it!” Jiang Shan persuaded.
He looked at Little Moon in his arms.
“If you don’t want it, then keep it as a dowry for Little Moon in the future!”

Li Su’s eyes lit up.
“That’s a good idea.
I have seen many people on TV do this.
They buy jewellery for their daughter every year and keep it for their daughter’s dowry.
It is very meaningful.”

Wei Yue Er looked over with a serious face.
“Mom, Little Moon, Jiang Shan, and I will buy them for her in the future.
Jiang Shan and I are honouring you.
You aren’t allowed to give it to others!”

Li Su looked at Wei Yue Er and smiled helplessly.
“Okay, I won’t give it to others.
I will give it to Little Moon when I die.”

“Mum! You are talking nonsense again.
You are going to live to be a hundred years old and you have to see Little Moon get married!” Wei Yue Er said, displeased.

“Don’t talk nonsense.
My daughter won’t marry!” Jiang Shan said suddenly, very seriously.

“That’s nonsense.
Who said that Little Moon won’t get married?”

“Little Moon promised me that she will not get married when she grows up.
Dad will keep her forever, right? Little Moon, tell grandma and mother you won’t get married, okay?”

Laughter filled the room, which was of particular note in the quiet night.
