Lone Road

The light in the sky was dull as I opened my eyes. It may be the time of twilight. The air had cooled down even colder than the morning. My body shivered as the cold air from the balcony reached me. I noticed my body was covered in a cold sweat. The dream or nightmare was still vivid in my mind. The voice was still ringing in my ears as If repeating the same words again and again.

Someone rang the doorbell bringing me back from my dream. It was Diana.

”Did you sleep well, Sir? ” She asked me as she entered. ”Yes, I did ” even though having the nightmare my body did not feel any kind of tiredness.

”Well then, I came to talk to you about your ridiculous idea ” ”have a sit then, ” I said to her motioning toward the couch. Yes, I had a ridiculous idea of joining college for further studies. I graduated from high school more than 4 years. The company came into my hand right after my graduation with the truth behind my family. I did not give any importance to taking my studies further but now I was away from that place and the company was stable too I decided why not complete my studies. Many people were questioning my ability due to the lack of further studies.

”Then, are you still thinking of joining college? ” Diana asked as she sat down. ”Well, many people are questioning my ability based on my ability and we also have lost some deals as the other party did not think that A high school passed person cannot know how a company runs. There are not many problems that you cannot deal with as of now so why don I use this time to complete my studies. If any problem arises then I am not going to Antarctica. I will be right here. ”

”Then, if you want to continue your idiotic idea then I won stop you. There are few colleges here that you can enroll in even if its the middle of the semester. There are some of our partnerships on this college so it would be easier to be enrolled here. ” She said giving me a folder with some papers in it.

One of the colleges attracted me. In the regent college, there was something that was attracting me.

”What about the regent college? Do they have literature there? ”

”Don you want to study business? ” Diana asked surprised. ”It does not mean that I have to study business if I have a company. I can study anything I like as long as I am capable to handle it. I just want to lock the mouth that talks behind my back ” she sighed. I continued ”I always liked literature. The game of words that has different meanings even if its same words ”

”It does have Literature as an elective. You can be enrolled by midnight. You will be enrolled by the name of Raziel Lillian Marshal. I also changed all your documents to your real last name. Your classes start from 10 am to 4 pm. The timing is the same except Friday when you will be having morning classes that are from 6:30 am to 11. ” Diana started to inform me about the schedule.

”Did you already finalize that I would be going to this particular college? ” I asked her as from her speech it was as if the college has been finalized.

”No, but I send an email to all the colleges and universities that we have investments, So I just need to cancel the others as all have sent the acceptance letter. ”

”How are you so smart and clever? ” ”Well experience ” she laughed and again went to a serious job face. ”What now? I asked her.

”Those people were still following us when we left the country. I believe they might create trouble if they knew you were starting college and even try to kill you. There was no less danger to your life for the last 4 years ”

”I know about that so don reveal that I am in this country and also warn the others to not tell anyone. If someone leaks the news then they might not see the sunrise the next day. Arrange me a bike, not too flashy but the one with the standard of normal university students. ” She replied with an ok and decided to order some food. I went with fish and chips whereas she ordered Spaghetti with meatballs. We both did not like flashy food. Any food would work as long as it was tasty even if it was from a gas station.

She left after having dinner with me. Some meetings were scheduled after my college ended. It was the managers of all the hotels and other food chains that we owned in Canada.

I did not get much sleep that night. The morning came too early to my liking. Diana was again nagging me about being careful. I told her I was going to college not to fight a war. That mostly shut her up.

There were books arranged by her for me according to the course and a bike was also brought. The breakfast was quiet. She again had breakfast with me. I knew she cared for me. After all the incidents I have been through with her she thinks that I am her vulnerable little brother that she needs to protect at any cost. She also decided that my fashion sense was that of the worst kind. She handed me ripped black jeans and a black shirt. My favorite watch, the Rolex skeleton automatic watch was also worn on my left hand complementing my full-on black outfit. It brought the paleness of my skin Also with my dark brown hair which looked pure black in shadows and only shine in the sunlight and my eyes being caramel color the color of my skin looked almost ghost-like.

”What the hell, Diana? I told you to buy a bike that is not that flashy, you heard me tell you to buy the flashiest of all? ” The bike in Infront of me would attract the unwanted attention of the whole college.

”Well, sir. If you don have something expensive then your attractive face won be of any use to get the attention of girls. ” She said laughing at my horrified face.

By the end of the day, I was already regretting my decision to come back to study. Was I born the opposite way that I always seem to seek my doom?
